Hi Reader,

What you might have missed on the blog:

This past week, I took a week-long holiday out of town (and didn’t even bring my computer with me, gasp!)...

…and when I was preparing for taking the week off work, I was coming into my last few days of work prior to going on vacation, and I’ll admit:

I was getting a bit worried.

The plan that day was to create more content*.

The problem? My brain wasn’t naturally coming up with things.

I always have plenty of content ideas, but the creative “juice” wasn’t there.

“Okay, Sagan. Pick an idea and turn it into a blog post,” I told myself.

…and then I stared at the computer screen and — nothing.

These things happen!

In that moment, I could have let myself spiral and get frustrated and have a little freak-out that I wasn’t going to be able to do all the things I wanted to do before my time away from work…

I could have tried to “force” the creative process and “power through” tasks (even though powering through** wouldn’t have been enjoyable)...

But instead, I knew there was a REASON for my internal struggle.

What I really wanted to do, that day, was a) admin tasks, and b) continuing education. So you know what? That’s what I did.

→ Just because I’d PLANNED to create blog content that particular day, didn’t mean that it was the best choice at that moment.

That day was not the right time for it:

  • I had to trust in timing.
  • I had to trust that the creativity would come to me more naturally the following day.
  • I had to trust that my business needed me to work on the admin tasks and continuing education at that moment, even though it wasn’t the original “plan” for that day.

There are a few really important aspects to this…

First, being able to differentiate between “this is not the right thing for me to do at this point in time,” vs “let’s find a bunch of reasons to not do this thing.”

(In other words, the power of listening to your intuition and your gut, rather than the negative self-talk in your head)

Second, going with the flow of what’s right for you at this point in time — even if it’s not “according to plan.”

(This is also where it's important to always have buffers built into your schedule, so you can follow that creative flow and have flexibility in your plans)

Third, identifying what it is that you are resisting, why you are resisting it, and what you are being drawn to do instead.

(This also requires self honesty)

Because of the very nature of HOW I’ve structured my business, it is designed so that every aspect of the work I do is enjoyable. This means that if I’m experiencing RESISTANCE within my business, there’s something going on there that I either need to deal with or I need to set aside while I reconnect with myself.

And this is one of the biggest factors in all of this:

Coming back to yourself.

When you experience resistance or creative blocks or you’re struggling to do the things that fill your cup, it’s often a sign that you need to come back to yourself ♥ There is information in that resistance.

Here are 3 questions to ask yourself any time you experience this — so that you can begin to come back to yourself…

  1. What was the original purpose for why I wanted to do XYZ in the first place?
  2. How is my current “relationship” with that task in alignment (or not!) with the original purpose for doing XYZ?
  3. What can I do to get back into alignment and expand my creative capacity?

…This is just the tip of the iceberg!

Learn how to come back to yourself, reconnect with your creative purpose, enhance your intuition, and improve your relationship with yourself in the (free!) How to Activate Your Intuition MASTERCLASS.

As always, I love hearing from you…

What's coming up for you? Did you have any "aha" moments as a result of exploring this?

Hit reply and let me know!

Have a great weekend,
Sagan (she/her)

Footnotes:

* This past summer I began blogging 3x weekly, which is no small potatoes! Most of my blog posts are pretty long (you're subscribed to this newsletter — YOU know how wordy I can get!), and there's a whole multi-faceted system within my content ecosystem for how I create blog posts and promote them etc. It's a rather large, ongoing project!

** I have a whole method for determining whether to power through tasks vs take a break, how to know whether to continue working and in what capacity, etc. It's been fine-tuned over YEARS. I share a bit about that in THIS blog post :)

P.S. Want to rebuild your relationship with yourself so you a) know when to take a step back from your tasks, and b) give yourself the grace needed to truly rest?
